|HIGH COMMISSIONER'S GREETING|
Fellow Nationals and friends of Trinidad and Tobago,
I am honoured to introduce myself as Nyahuma Obika, High Commissioner for the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to Abuja. I consider it a privilege to have been appointed to serve in Nigeria although I am also accredited to Algeria, Cameroon, Cote d’ Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Republic of Guinea, Liberia, Senegal and Sierra Leone.
In bringing greetings from Trinidad and Tobago, I wish to assure that I would continue to dedicate myself to serving the needs of all of our nationals based in Nigeria, the countries of accreditation and indeed all of Africa where our people are making tangible, indelible and meaningful contributions in every sector of society where they find themselves.
I am acutely aware that you have much to offer and that you are an un-tapped human and intellectual resource. In this regard, I will continue to maintain an ‘open door policy’ to any national of Trinidad and Tobago who visits the High Commission in Abuja, Nigeria. I would very much like to hear of your experiences, successes and challenges in Nigeria and any other country on the African Continent. Indeed, I remain open to any advice you may wish to offer.
On May 16, 2011, I presented my credentials to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, thereby accrediting me as High Commissioner to Nigeria. Diplomatic relations with Nigeria and the other countries of accreditation are very cordial. There is also enormous potential to be developed in such sectors as culture, trade, business, tourism, aviation, energy and perhaps most importantly, people to people contact. I encourage you, therefore, to join me in highlighting the best that Trinidad and Tobago has to offer in Africa.
In closing, I fully recognize and acknowledge that Trinidad and Tobago owes its stellar position in the diplomatic and international community in Nigeria through the dedication, sacrifice and sheer hard work of those Heads of Mission who have served in Nigeria in the past. I salute their contributions and pledge to maintain the highest dedication to duty during my tenure in Nigeria.
God Bless You All!
Trinidad and Tobago High Commission, Nigeria.
